The New Searchable, Sortable DBE Directory

The Ohio River Bridges Project's online directory offers a variety of search functions including business type searches using keywords, like “concrete” or “landscaping” or searching by the proximity to a specific zip code. These features make the process of searching for a particular contractor or list of contractors easier.

Other search functions include alphabetical listings and sorting by prequalification status.

The information in the Bridges Project’s directory is obtained exclusively from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's DBE Directory.

Therefore, if your firm’s information is not accurate with KYTC, it will not be accurate on the Bridges Project’s DBE directory.

The KYTC updates its DBE Directory monthly. We recommend checking your information after the first of each month, particularly if your certification or prequalification has changed, if you have a new address, etc.

It is your responsibility as a KY DBE to make sure that this information is correct.

Prequalification Status

It is important that you check your firm’s listing in the Bridges Project's directory clicking on the “KYTC DBE LIST” tab. You need to check that your prequalification status is listed correctly.

  - See the KYTC DBE List tab.
  - See the Prequalified column to check your status.

There are four criteria to designate prequalification status:

"Yes" – the business is prequalified
"No" - the business is not prequalified
"Not applicable" – the business is exempt from prequalification
"Unknown" – the DBE’s prequalification status is unknown

If your firm’s prequalification status is designated as “unknown,” it could limit your chances of being contacted by a prime contractor.

To review the types of work that require prequalification, please contact Steve Waddle, KYTC Division of Construction Procurement at steve.waddle@ky.gov or follow the instructions on the home page of the eNewsletter.

The list of types of work that require prequalification is on Page 2 of the application for the Certificate of Eligibility (TC14-1E).

For Consulting Engineer & Related Services prequalification (TC-40-1), please see page 2 on the application for the work for which prequalification is required.
