From the KY DBE Program Manager...

Activity on the Ohio River Bridges Project has increased dramatically over the past few months and it is expected to steadily increase through 2010.

There has been an increase in Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and the KY Program Manager's office continues to encourage more eligible firms to seek certification and prequalification. But the Project is still lacking businesses in crucial areas and scopes of work to be performed. The Project is currently in its right-of-way phase; where opportunities for abatement and demolition exist. KY DBEs should also take note of the information included in this issue

about eProcurement resources to stay apprised of all opportunities that include goals for DBE participation.

The KY DBE Program of the Bridges Project continues to communicate the importance of using the resources and information this office provides. The archive of past eNewsletters available on the Bridges Project Website contains information that remains relevant to businesses seeking ways to improve their business.

The Bridges Project and KYTC continue to offer full scholarships to Entrepreneurial Development Institute Programs that have helped certified DBEs build their businesses with strategic planning for growth.

The KY DBE Program offers information, resources and programs for certified KY DBEs and those qualified firms seeking DBE certification.  It is incumbent on you, the business owner to access these resources to meet your goals.
