Bridges Project's KY DBE Program Offers Certified Businesses Full Scholarship for FastTrac® Business Growth Programs

With the approval of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), the Ohio River Bridges Project has offered full scholarships to all certified Kentucky Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) for FastTrac business growth programs since March, 2008.

KYTC certified firms range in age from 2 to 70 years.

While these business owners possess the knowledge and technical skills to run their businesses, some lack the strategy to compete for major construction projects in Kentucky. KY DBEs have requested business development programs since the KY DBE Progam Manager distributed the 360° Business Assessment in which DBE owners were able to list the types of assistance they need to take their businesses to the next level.

The Entrepreneurial Development Institute's FastTrac programs, Listening to Your Business and GrowthVenture, are for experienced business owners and address key elements of developing a plan for growth, sustainability and increasing competitiveness and profit margins.

Graduates of FastTrac programs include DBEs from Southern Indiana to central and eastern Kentucky. Their comments about the value of the program have been overwhelmingly positive and the tools they gained have been put to use.
