Tierra Kavanaugh Turner,
CEO, a native of Danville, Kentucky, is a graduate from the
University of Louisville.
Throughout her career, Tierra has held various management
positions from several major corporations, including
BellSouth Mobility, now known as Cingular Wireless,
and American Express. She also represented BellSouth
Corporation as a Loaned Executive to the Metro United
Way. She is the founder and previous owner of Executive
Courier Express LLC, a small package express delivery
business.
In March, 2004, Tierra was appointed by Governor Ernie
Fletcher to serve as the first Executive Director for
the newly created Governor’s Office of Minority
Empowerment. The Office serves in an advisory capacity
to the Governor, the General Assembly, the Kentucky
Congressional Delegation and other appropriate government
officials. In addition, she had the responsibility of
researching and participating in the development of
policies affecting Kentucky’s minority community
in the specific areas of economic development, education,
healthcare, housing, government services, and criminal
justice matters.
Tierra carried on her passion for entrepreneurship in 2006 by founding TKT & Associates, Inc.,
a certified D/MBE business consulting firm that provides clients over 100 combined years of expertise in small, disadvantaged, minority and women-owned business development.
In her commitment to the importance of minority entrepreneurship,
Tierra serves as a board
member of the Kentuckiana Minority Business Council,
which certifies minority businesses throughout Kentucky.
She also has served as Vice Chair of the board and Co-Chair
of the Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee,
a standing committee of KMBC. Through her involvement
with KMBC, Tierra works to improve minority business
awareness and procurement opportunities between majority
corporations and minority businesses.
